I haven’t used such a router in decades, I just know from doing IT support at friends homes. These people have no clue how to get around these DNS filters.


Many German providers have hardcoded DNS servers in their rental routers though and they block everything from torrent directories to iptv sites.

Never use SMR disks in a RAID/NAS. You’re taking a huge gamble on data loss / disk failures if you do. Also it will be slow as fuck, really fucking slow, often unusable for anything but incredibly slow backups.
CMR disks are the ONLY way to go.

Afaik the budget friendliest local AI solutions currently are Mac Minis! Due to the CPU/GPU/RAM unified structure they are powerhouses for AI and astonishingly well priced for what they can put out.

I use uptime Kuma with signal-cli for notifications - it’s been rock solid. I also have another uptime kuma instance that uses email as notification option to monitor my primary uptime kuma and the signal-cli.
