I recently stumbled across this while browsing my LCS for newer Sci-Fi series. The artwork is phenomenal, which makes up for the writing not always being my favorite.

I found this on this awesome blog

It has a lot more 70’s anime art to check out
At least where I am.
First morning since summer I had to look for a blanket in the morning. I’ve got thick socks and a sweater on and I can officially say it feels like fall.
I’m excited to get out my pumpkins and hoodies but I’m not excited for those frozen mornings in bed.
Also not looking forward to having to scrape my car windows off in the morning :^( Maybe I’ll try making that home recipe spray deicer this year.
I know most mobile games are ass but every now and then something good pops up.
I had a blast with this game when it first dropped, and it just had a big update
If you like incremental games I highly recommend this one. Dev seems really cool as well
Also I’m 100% unaffiliated with the game, I just came across while scrolling the top 100 paid list on the playstore.
I learned this morning that
The first mass-produced cotton swab was developed in 1923 by Polish-American Jew Leo Gerstenzang after he watched his wife attach wads of cotton to toothpicks to clean their infant’s ears.[1][2] His product was originally named “Baby Gays” in recognition of their being intended for infants Wikipedia

Here is the ABC article that info is sourced from
I can see why they changed it.

Cool rabbit hole. I love all the brandon flowers gifs

Big fan of this song and the album its on. Its like CAKE before CAKE
Also I’m open to better ways to share music than youtube. I’m no fan of google but they have the biggest catalog.
I recently watched Beowulf (1999) and realized Chris Lambert does the same laugh in all his movies. I guess its a running joke online.

I love this guy, and am always pumped to see him upload. I don’t usually go to redemption arcades so I enjoy getting an insight into the strange world of kiddy casinos.

I finished this recently and found it incredible. There was so much history I was completely ignorant to. I never knew the U.S. controlled The Phillipines, or that we took so much of Spain’s empire.
Highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know the full extent of the U.S.'s imperialism. I will say it has many parts that are difficult to read, especially the events in Manila.
I was very glad to run into this at my LCS. I recommend issue 34 as a good place to start.
I just wrote up a post explaining the idea behind the community here
https://lemmy.zip/post/71296154
But to give a shorter version, Post Today is meant to be a reliable, low effort place to share and discuss almost anything you want, and to see how many days in a row you can go without breaking your streak.
Early reddit had r/reddit as a catch all place to post and I think it did a lot to grow the site. While I know various c/random, c/justpost, and c/interestingshare communities exist and are great, I think I am offering something a bit different here.
My hope is that it’ll catch a bit of the 196 vibe, but be more varied, and that it will lead to an interesting community.
Or it’ll just be me posting and it’ll be like a little personal blog I can look back through. I’ve had communities go both ways ahah.
If you’ve read this far please go there and make a post right now!
When I use my phone in my free time I do a mix of things. I browse Lemmy for a bit, check my subscriptions, upvote and comment here and there, and then I close my Lemmy app.
Then I go to my favorite blogs, I read manga, I scroll tumblr, I listen to podcasts and watch youtube videos, and I discover new and interesting things.
Sometimes I find myself thinking “Hey I should share this cool thing with Lemmy!” But I run into some issues. It might be hard to find a good community for it, or they might have restrictive rules.
I once submitted a post to a music community that hadn’t had any activity in months. The mod messaged me within an hour of posting to let me know he’d taken it down because I’d broken a rule by not putting the year after the song title instead of before.
So this community is meant to do three things.
Spark the thought, “What have I found outside Lemmy recently that might be fun to share?” Or “What have I created recently that might be fun to post?”
Give people a place to post whatever they want without worrying too much about it.
Get people into the habit of posting. Its fun to build up a streak!
I highly encourage people to crosspost! (And follow that comms rules when you do!!) Want to share a cool manga you found? Post it to c/manga and post it here too! Lots of sleepy communities only get a post every other month. If this comm can spread the activity out then that is great imo.
I’ve been active on Lemmy for years, even though I’ve switched accounts due to issues with other instances and privacy reasons. I’ve built a few different active communities and I enjoy doing it. I’m hopeful that this can be an interesting little corner of the Fediverse. Its a work in progress, and you might see the rules change as I figure out what works and what doesn’t. If you have any questions or feedback comment or send me a PM (also I know this breaks the one post a day rule but its a pinned post! Thats a fair exception! Dont ask me to ban myself!)

Seems to have everything inside! Not sure if I’ll have a chance to get it to the table but the art is amazing. I’m in love with the cover, especially the space orc looking guy. From the imposing cod piece to the fist grip rifle its everything I love about vintage sci-fi.
